The Apple's Disappearance

The Apple's Disappearance A Stolen Device The Apple of Knowledge reaches Haudemer after a Claimed engineer flees Maure's influence and is killed. Monsters find the device before human agents can recover it. Knowledge as Leverage The object contains technology capable of changing the balance between magic and industry. Its disappearance creates the hidden chain connecting Vainqueur, Victor Dalton, Maure, and the Fomors. The conspiracy begins with an artifact rather than an army.

Lucie's Double Role

Lucie's Double Role Scholar and Spy Lucie Lavere presents herself as a Royal University scholar while observing Vainqueur's unusual class progression. Her research is genuine, but it also serves the interests of her hidden mistress. Information as Control She provides knowledge to Scorchers and later reports on Murmurin. Lucie survives by serving several powers at once, treating political alignment as a negotiable asset. Her duplicity keeps the conspiracy invisible until the war is already underway.

The Broken Hellgate

The Broken Hellgate Secret Sabotage Melodieuse orders Lucie Lavere to destroy the seals of the Hellgate beneath Castle of Murmurin. The purpose is to release forces capable of destabilizing Gardemagne and expanding Fomor influence. A Plan Misfires Furibon's defeat, Vainqueur's arrival, and the dragons' intervention prevent the gate from becoming the decisive weapon Melodieuse expects. Her manipulation succeeds locally but fails strategically. The conspiracy's greatest weakness is contempt for unintended consequences.

The Killing of Victor

The Killing of Victor The Hidden Attacker Melodieuse confronts Victor Dalton after the dragons rout Maure's forces. She reveals that the Apple, the Scorchers, and the invasion were connected to her broader plan. Strategic Victory Lost Her Death Spike kills Victor, but the act provokes Vainqueur's final victory over Brandon Maure. Melodieuse wins a personal exchange while losing the war's decisive battlefield. The assassination exposes the conspiracy without securing its objective.

The Earth Gate

The Earth Gate A Larger Design Mell Odieuse retains the Apple of Knowledge and watches the secret gate to Earth. Her defeat of Maure's immediate strategy does not end the Fomor project. The Unfinished Threat The gate reveals that the conflict is not merely about Ishfania or Murmurin. Earth and Outremonde are connected strategic spaces, and the Fomors intend to use that connection against the New Folk. The epilogue preserves a future war beyond Vainqueur's triumph.
